Frequently Asked Questions

Most Popular

Will I benefit from using Theradome™ LH80 PRO?

In our clinical studies ALL participants benefited from the Theradome™ and experienced one or more of the following:

1. Slows down and minimizes hair loss.

2. Doubles the follicle size of existing hair.

3. Grows new, healthy hair.

How long until I see results?

Step 1: The first step is minimizing hair loss, which typically occurs 4-18 weeks into treatment.

Step 2: Reversing miniaturization is the next step to getting thicker, fuller and more lustrous hair and typically occurs within 18-26 weeks of continued use.

Step 3: The final step is renewing your hair growth, which typically begins within 26-52 weeks of starting treatment.

How long will I need to continue treatment?

Laser hair therapy is similar to exercise – you have to keep it up to continue to enjoy the benefits. Once you get the results you want, we recommend a maintenance treatment schedule of 1-2 sessions per week.

Are there any potential side effects from using the Theradome™?

There are no side effects from using the Theradome™ and the FDA has validated this. Our product has zero side effects, unlike almost every other type of hair loss treatment.

How do I use the Theradome™?

It’s very easy. The product has a simple one button operation and it uses audio commands to let you know if the battery is low, how many treatments you have done since the purchase of your Theradome™, how many minutes are left in the session, and if there are any technical issues.

Is the Theradome™ FDA cleared?

Yes. On June 14th 2013, the Theradome™ became the first wearable device in the world to be FDA cleared for over the counter use. Our official FDA clearance letter can be seen on the FDA website: http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/cdrh_docs/pdf12/K122950.pdf

Does it work for both men and women?

The Theradome™ is presently cleared for women and Theradome™ has submitted FDA paperwork for clearance for men. While Theradome™ can only market the Theradome™ for women at this time, we are still able to accept orders from anyone.

Why do you target only women in your ads?

The Theradome™ is presently only FDA cleared for women.

When will you have FDA clearance for men?

The Theradome™ is presently only FDA cleared for women.

Can I use my Theradome™ to thicken my hair?

Yes. The Theradome™ increases thickness and density of hair follicles.

How do I determine if the Theradome™ LH80 PRO is right for me?

Our Theradome™ laser helmet is designed to work with all stages of hair loss but the earlier one starts treating, the better the outcome. There are several scales to help determine the stages in women’s hair loss. The most common – the Savin Scale – measures overall thinning as well as density. For men, the Norwood scale is the most common scale for determining the stages of hair loss. Please see below to determine which stages best identify your situation.

What is the best way to track my treatment progress?

Keeping a visual record is the easiest and most effective way of tracking your progress. Take photos of your hair before you begin treatment and then at regular stages while using your Theradome. For the best photographic results and to gain a clear representation of your hair growth, please see our guide.

Medical Questions

Can I use the Theradome along with other treatments such as Rogaine, Propecia (finasteride) or Dutasteride?

Yes, you can benefit greatly from our products and your hair recovery will be even more rapid than just taking the pills alone. Please note that women cannot take Propecia (Finasteride) or Dutasteride.

Can I use it if I have had a hair transplant?

The nation’s top hair restoration experts, such as Bosley Medical and Hair Club for Men, provide the Theradome™ to their patients. It works very well with pre-op patients and with those who are post-transplant. Transplants cause trauma to the nearby hairs. Our product will alleviate this and assist the growth of newly planted follicles by: accelerating the healing process; reducing redness and decreasing discomfort; and encouraging transplanted hairs to grow faster.

Will this help with my other dermatitis and itching?

Some patients have reported positive results using the Theradome™ as this is designed to reduce inflammation of the scalp – the root cause of Dermatitis and itching. Please note that the FDA has not cleared us for this and we cannot market it for these conditions.

Is it ever too early to use the Theradome™ LH80 PRO?

No, it is never too early to use the Theradome™ laser helmet, as it helps with the various stages of hair loss and will volumize your hair, even if you are just thinning and haven’t yet experienced major hair loss.

What is the difference between Laser and LED for hair growth?

Laser light travels through space as a beam, maintaining its intensity. LED light, like a light bulb, spreads out in all directions, rapidly losing intensity as it travels.

Why is the Theradome™ LH80 PRO a better option than a laser comb or laser hood?

Not only is the Theradome™ more convenient, but our 80 lasers will penetrate the scalp more than combing your hair for 20 minutes will. The Theradome™ has rubber pegs, which are designed to part the hair to ensure that the maximum scalp area is exposed.

I am 22 and my mother and/or father is bald – Can I prevent hair loss?

Yes, it is much easier to prevent hair loss than it is to re-activate the dormant hair follicles. By using our Theradome™, you will reverse any potential miniaturization of the follicles. As a result, the follicles will continue to receive nutrients from the blood supply and the hair will continue to grow.

Will the Theradome™ LH80 PRO cause cancer?

No. Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is safe, has been around for decades and contains no ionizing radiation. Over 1,500 Scientific Peer Reviewed papers support its benefits for biostimulation. Theradome™ LH80 PRO lasers penetrate the scalp to the base of both velus and terminal hair follicles. The lasers do not penetrate the brain or skull and the Theradome™ LH80 PRO is cleared by the FDA for safety and efficacy, without side effects.

I am being treated for cancer. Can I use the Theradome™ LH80 PRO?

Anyone currently undergoing treatment for cancer should check with their physician about using the Theradome™ LH80 PRO. While undergoing such treatments, the Theradome™ LH80 PRO can be used outside the active cancer treatment window. Once cancer treatment has ended normal usage of the Theradome™ LH80 PRO can be resumed.

It should be noted that cancer treatments are known to cause hair loss and negatively impact hair quality when growth resumes. After treatment, many recovering cancer patients that have used the Theradome™ LH80 PRO for hair restoration have experienced a dramatic improvement in the quality of their hair and in hair growth.

Do I need a prescription to use the Theradome™ LH80 PRO?

No, the product is an FDA cleared OTC (over-the-counter) medical device. No prescription is needed.

Did your CEO Use Anything Else – Surgery or Pharmaceuticals – Besides the Theradome™ LH80 PRO to Get his Results?

He did not have surgery, but was using Propecia, which he stopped 4 months after initiating Theradome™ LH80 PRO treatments and was very satisfied with the results.

Are there any medical conditions that may interfere with the effectiveness of Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)?

Before use of any hair loss treatment, make sure you do a thorough self assessment on your current health condition and possible causes for your hair loss. If you have any underlying medical conditions such as thyroid disease, anemia, are taking any medications, or if you have any possible scalp conditions such as psoriasis, please visit your doctor to address these medical concerns first. Any underlying medical conditions can be the cause for seeing slower than average results with your Theradome™ LH80 PRO.

Why is an FDA 510 (k) Clearance Important?

The purpose of the FDA 510 (k) is to validate the SAFETY and EFFECTIVENESS of a medical device. In order to protect people from false claims and dangerous devices, the United States requires rigorous testing that includes laboratory and clinical trials to prove safety and effectiveness. Data derived from these studies, which must meet specific requirements, are submitted to the FDA via a 510 (k) submission for review and clearance to legally market the medical device.

An FDA 510 (k) clearance allows consumers to distinguish between proof and false claims concerning safety and efficacy. Only after gaining clearance—the acknowledgement that the device is safe and effective for public sales–is an FDA 510 (k) clearance granted to the manufacturers of a medical device.

It is very important to verify that any device you consider for purchase be FDA cleared. We advise that you visit the FDA.gov website to check for a product’s FDA compliance status before reaching a decision.

The Theradome Laser Helmet

How many times a week should I use the Theradome™?

We recommend twice a week for 20 minutes.

When is the best time to use the Theradome™?

The ideal time is right after a shower, after towel drying the hair. You should comb your hair out of the way to allow the Theradome™ to fully bathe your scalp with laser light. We do not recommend doing treatments on soaking wet hair.

Can I use the Theradome™ every day?

Treatments were cleared by the FDA for twice a week usage and we recommend following this regimen. However, we have had patients use the product every day with absolutely no side effects and excellent results.

Will the lasers reach my scalp if I have a somewhat full head of hair?

The Theradome™ has 80 lasers and a built-in hair parting mechanism to allow parting of thicker hair. We recommend that you use your Theradome™ after you get out of the shower.

How much does the Theradome™ LH80 PRO weigh?

It weighs slightly less than 16 ounces and is very comfortable to wear.

I’m worried that the Theradome™ won’t fit my head. Do I need to worry about the size of the helmet?

The Theradome™ has been designed to fit 98% of the population! The 2% with size issues are generally those with smaller heads. For those customers, we provide foam pads to ensure a correct fit. So, no matter what your head size is, you can order your Theradome with confidence that it will fit comfortably.

Are you developing a Theradome app? What will it be able to do?

Our user-friendly iPhone/Android app will support the use and outcomes of treatment by:

  • Including a convenient scheduling calendar with a built-in reminder timer
  • Allowing uploading of progress photos taken with your smartphone camera
  • Tracking the types of shampoo and medications you use
  • Logging your overall progress

How do I charge my Theradome™ LH80 PRO?

Attach the USB cable end to the AC adapter. Attach the micro-USB cable end to the connector located under the master switch. Plug the adapter into an outlet.

Charging mode is indicated by a slowly varying color in the master switch light. As the battery approaches a full charge, the indicator light’s color excursions become more green and less red.

When the Theradome™ LH80 PRO is fully charged, indicated by a continuous, dim green light, it is ready for use.”

My skin is dark; can I still use the Theradome™ LH80 PRO?

The Theradome™ LH80 PRO is FDA cleared for Fitzpatrick Skin Types 1-4. Due to a limited number of subjects, data for skin types 5-6 are currently unavailable.

The Theradome™ LH80 PRO fits too loosely; is it supposed to be loose?

Foam pads are provided for a comfortable fit, but a loose fit isn’t cause for concern. For best results, we’ve designed a comfortable fit enabling customers to SIT STILL during treatment. Activities such as browsing the Internet, watching TV or reading are perfectly compatible, but vigorous physical activity should be avoided during the 20-minute treatment session.

Is there any danger from the lasers?

The lasers used by Theradome™ are a very pure red color, part of the visible spectrum and not intense enough to cause damage to the eyes. Because the lasers are very bright, there is a three step safety system that prevents the lasers from accidentally shining into your eyes. If you intentionally defeat this system, the lasers will still cause no harm.

How long does it take to charge the Theradome™?

The device will be fully charged in 3 hours or less.

We recommend shampooing with a medicated shampoo to clean the hair and reduce inflammation of the scalp.

Should I shampoo every day?
