Why Are the Spaces Between Lasers Different During Treatment?

Some users notice that the laser beams inside their Theradome helmet may appear unevenly spaced or larger in certain areas during treatment. In most cases, this is completely normal and does not indicate a problem with the device.

Why Do the Laser Beams Look Different?

The appearance of the laser beams can change depending on the distance between the lasers and the surface where they are being projected.

When the beams are viewed farther away from the scalp, they may appear larger and more spread apart. This can create the illusion that the lasers are not evenly spaced, even though the laser array is functioning normally.

In other words, what you see outside the scalp area may not accurately represent the actual laser spacing during treatment.

Laser Dots Appear Larger as Distance Increases

The laser output remains the same. Only the appearance changes as distance increases.

How Many Lasers Should Be Visible?

A simple way to verify that your Theradome is operating correctly is to count the laser beams.

To do this:

  1. Place a sheet of white paper inside the helmet.
  2. Gently press the paper against the clear inner plastic lens.
  3. Turn on the device and count the visible laser points.

You should see:

  • 80 laser beams on the Theradome PRO LH80
  • 40 laser beams on the Theradome EVO LH40

If the expected number of laser beams is visible, the laser system is operating as designed.

How Are the Lasers Organized?

The lasers inside the Theradome PRO are arranged in groups.

For example:

  • The PRO contains 80 lasers total
  • These lasers are organized into 10 groups of 8 lasers

You can think of the system like a tree:

  • The main system is the trunk.
  • Each branch contains 8 lasers.

If one branch stops functioning, all 8 lasers in that group will turn off together.

Because of this design, it is not possible for only one or two lasers within a group to stop working independently.

When Should I Be Concerned?

If you count the correct number of laser beams (80 for PRO or 40 for EVO), differences in beam size or spacing are typically caused by viewing distance and are not a sign of a malfunction.
